Equipment Rules

Tiny Tots
LANSW requires Tiny Tots to participate in a non-competitive environment with motor skills development bring the prime objective. Recording records for this age group is therefore not recommended.

Starting Blocks

These can be used at the discretion of the athlete in any event held in lanes.

Athletes over 14 are encouraged to practice using blocks as they are a requirement to be used in all laned events from Regional upwards.

Cardiff Little Athletics has starting blocks available for use on competition nights and also at training.

Footwear

Children are required to wear shoes at all competitions, training and at Carnivals.

Light joggers are recommended for competition.

Spikes shall not be worn by any athletes competing in the 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 age groups. Competitors in 11 – 20 age groups may wear spikes in events run entirely in lanes, Javelin, Long Jump, Triple Jump and High Jump.

Spike shoes may now be worn by any competitor aged 13 or above in long distance event at Zone, Regional or State Carnivals or carnivals held at any other centre.

Competitors must not wear spike shoes with the spikes removed in any event.

Spikes must only be worn during the event and are not to be worn to and from the event.

Spikes must be removed at the finish line before proceeding to the next event.

Uniform

All athletes competing in Centre or Association meetings must be registered with the LANSW/ANSW Association and must compete in unmodified Centre registered uniforms as notified to the Association each year.

Uniform Requirements apply to ALL athletes competing at their Centre or representing their Centre at any competition.

Individual registration numbers are to be worn by ALL competitors firmly affixed to the front of the uniform top.

McDonald's Numbers must not be modified and must clearly show the sponsor’s logo and the number.

Coles age patches are to be worn on either side of the singlet or crop - this is no longer allowed on pants.

A child competing in a mixture of different dress and colour makes them look out of place and does not reflect the high standards that this Centre continually strives to achieve. Should the cost of a uniform be a financial burden, please check with the Uniform officer, as there may be used uniforms for sale or complimentary.

We require all athletes to compete in centre uniform by week 4 of the point score competition.

Whenever possible children should wear hats and sunscreen to protect them from the sun and have a drink bottle to minimise the risk of dehydration.

Tracksuits must be removed while actually competing - in colder weather a compression shirt or other long-sleeved top may be worn under the competition singlet.
